314. Highlights of the Inner City Science Fair

August 3, 2011

Q: There was a pieced called “Inner City Science Fair” or similar… Maybe it was just a component of the National Science Fair bit.¬†Entries included: “The Effects of Drugs on Me” and “What I Would Do if They Gave Me the Space Shuttle” (or similar). I remember for the latter, the entrant opened with, “First, I would be surprised.” I still use that line frequently!

A: “Highlights of the Inner City Science Fair”, by Michael Reiss and Al Jean, appeared in the August 1983 (E.T. and John Glenn: Coincidence?) issue. (Thanks to Cartoon Carol in Answer #244 for help with this question.)
