406. Cartoon Strip About Dating Gerbils

Q. I’m trying to find the NatLamp issue that had a cartoon strip where a guy sees a gerbil in a pet store, falls in love, takes it to dinner then home for some extracurricular activity. 

A. Found it, although you wouldn’t believe how often the word “gerbil” appears in the Lampoon. Well, maybe you would.

It was a three-panel cartoon strip in the form of a public service announcement in the section “The United States Department of Agriculture Presents: A Guide to Safe Sex” from the June 1987 (“Sex and Other Unusual Practices”) issue. It was titled “The USDA Presents: A Guide to Dating Gerbils,” with art by Alan Kuperberg and written by Andy Simmons and Dave Hanson.
