416. How to Become a “Glamour” Photographer

Q. First, thank you for maintaining Mark’s Very Large National Lampoon Site. I’ve been a fan of the magazine since I subscribed as a teenager in the mid-1970s, and your site has been an invaluable resource.

I’m trying to identify a late-1970s National Lampoon photo feature that I remember vividly but haven’t been able to locate. I’m almost certain it appeared between 1975 and 1978, and it was a color, photo-oriented satire about guys pretending to be fashion or glamour photographers in order to get women to undress. The visual I remember most clearly is the “photographer” wearing a TV remote control around his neck as though it were a light meter, posing in a small apartment dressed up as a fashion studio while a somewhat skeptical model looked on. I originally thought it was “Art or Porno? A Photographer’s Guide to Naked Ladies,” but that’s not the piece I’m remembering.

Does this ring a bell? If so, I’d be grateful for any clues about the issue or title. Thanks again for preserving this wonderful slice of Lampoon history.

A. That sounds awfully familiar. But I haven’t been able to find it. If anyone out there knows, please post the answer as a comment below.
