412. Hippies in a Weed Draught Story

Q. I remember a hilarious story that I think I read in National Lampoon in an issue from the early ’90s. I didn’t have any luck, but I found your site and wondered if you could dredge it up for me. The story takes place in July 1969. Some hippies go into the woods in the middle of a big weed drought. One of the hippies tries meditation and, on the eve of the moon landing, actually floats up to the moon. Does this ring a bell?

A. I’m afraid I don’t remember that one. That said, I wasn’t reading the magazine very closely by the early ’90s. If anyone else knows, please comment below.
