263. Magic Tricks for Kids

December 20, 2010

Q: Which issue featured an illustrated how-to instruction guide for kids—how to do magic tricks at home, or maybe how to be a wizard. The first trick was “The Magic Wand of Water”, and another was a gender transformation which entailed wearing articles of clothing found in your parents’ dresser drawers.

A: Lorac sez: “The article you want is ‘A Kid’s Guide to Home Sorcery’ by Ron Barrett, in the Jan ’82 (Sword and Sorcery) issue. I have often inscribed the curse: ‘Fink You, Nutbrain!’ on paper-towel rolls.” Thanks, Lorac!

Y'know, it crossed my mind that I should check that issue before throwing my hands up on this one. Chalk one up to laziness, and another to Lorac. Thanks, again!

Fantastic! I've been dying to read that needle from wherever it was in the digital haystack that is the DVD compilation of NL's. Thank you Mark, and thank you Cartoon Carol Backwards!
