Your Unauthorized Guide to the Golden Age of National Lampoon Magazine

73. “Mrs. Gipper” Comic

January 22, 2004

Q: All I need to know is if the magazine features a sarcastic comic called Mrs. Gipper.

A: According to Eric (see the Comments link below), that appeared in Rolling Stone magazine, not National Lampoon.

That was NOT NL. It was Rolling Stone. The strip was originally called "Nancy", but Ernie Bushmiller's estate was afraid people would confuse the RS "Nancy" with his own adorable "Nancy". The "Mrs. Gipper" title was a natural.
