198. Why Are You So Dumb? Or Are You Just Lazy?

March 2, 2010

Q: Hey, Mark, how come you never seem to know the answers to any questions? Except for the older ones, it seems like you’re too stupid or lazy to answer questions yourself anymore.

A: It’s not that I never know the answers, I’ve just been too lazy to post them when I do. Instead, I just email the answer back. For years, I’ve only posted the ones I don’t know.

No more. I’ve decided to stop doing that. From now on, I will post all questions here, not just the ones I don’t know. That way, everyone can benefit from the useless information lodged in my brain, not just the lucky emailer. This doesn’t let Carol off the hook (thanks, Carol!), or any of the other faithful unfortunates burdened with NatLamp fun facts to unload here. But the world will now know that I am doing my part in this completely trivial endeavor.

Sirs, So, "for years," you've completely discounted the entertainment value of questions simply because you knew the answer to them? Yes, high time you rectified this practice! Charles Van Doren 21 Patrician Way

Sirs, I agree with the previous correspondent. The entertainment value of questions should not be overlooked. But at the same time, we must consider the questionable values of entertainment, yet still be able to entertain questions concerning our values. The entertaining aspect of questions is valuable because... hey, waitaminit... What's this curved steel thing penetrating my belly... and coming out my back all covered in guts and gore? OH MY GOD! IT'S A HOOK!! I'M ON THE HOOK!!!YAAAaaaaaarrrgh! Carol Wood 1313 Horror Street Red Hook
