104. Mamie Eisenhower Death Contest

October 12, 2006

Q: I recall a contest to guess the date former First Lady Mamie Eisenhower would die. Did anyone actually win the contest?

A: “Slazor Gossage” won it. Maybe. See the Comments link for more info. (Thanks Carol!)

A winnerwas announced in the Feb 80 ish, page 87. Apparently an army hospital nurse named Slazor Gossage phoned in the answer, "In about five minutes." But that sounds like a made-up name to me, and the winner's photo looks a lot like a 'Poon editor (Ted Mann?)in a wig and nurse's hat. Make of this what you will.
