244. Live Show Cast 1975 or 1976

June 22, 2010

Q: The live touring show came to my college (SUNY Morrisville, NY) in either 1975 or 1976. I saw the show and want to know who the performers were on the bill at that show.

A: Daniel says in the Comments: “According to Matty Simmons’ book, If You Don’t Buy This Book We’ll Kill This Dog, the National Lampoon Show cast was originally comprised of Harold Ramis, Brian Doyle-Murray, Bill Murray, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, and Joe Flaherty. Belushi was later replaced by Meatloaf, and Radner was later replaced by Mimi Kennedy and Ellen Foley. Later cast members included: Jim Hosbein, Barry Diamond and Larry Dilg. The Show closed in 1975.” Thanks, Daniel!

I vaguely recall seeing the National Lampoon Show at my college, Slippery Rock, maybe 1974 or 1975. If anyone can pin down the date of the performance and who the cast members were, I would be thrilled.

Rider College in 1974 had The National Lampoon Show, Rider is next to Princeton in NJ. I still have the shirt. Right in your town right in your college, right in your face

Wish I knew the date but they also performed at university of texas at Arlington — had two shows, went to both, very edgy and “sacrilegious” for Bible Belt audience — is there a recording of any of these shows — same era campus showed Groove Tube and Night Porter movies

Hello fellow NL fans, in the 1970s, my Dad took me to NYC to see the live show. Does anyone have any details of place, cast? It was awesome. I was under 15 years old. Going down memory lane. My Dad died in 1991 so nobody to ask. Thanks all. NL was fantastic!!!
