172. How to Make Love to a Loaf of Bread

September 13, 2009

Q: I’m looking for the article about how to make love to a loaf of bread (NOT in the ‘Food’ Issue, oddly enough) which contains a phrase like “Now sit back and enjoy, as the staff of liofe embraces the lively staff!”

A: Reader Mona Guerilla has the answer: “It was ‘The I-Hate-to-Fuck Book’ by Terry Catchpole in the Feb ’73 (Sexual Frustration) issue. The staff of life bit appears under the heading ‘Hot Pork Sandwich’.”

Comments

I can't find it either, but it was almost certainly "The I-Hate-to-Fuck Cookbook", which gives recipes for sex-surrogates based on food. There were several "Food" issues over the years, but it isn't in any of them. I suspect it was around '71 to '73.

Closer investigation reveals that it was "The I-Hate-to-Fuck Book" by Terry Catchpole in the Feb '73 Sexual Frustration issue. The staff of life bit appears under the heading "Hot Pork Sandwich".
